MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) -Peter Norman, the Australian who stood between the U.S. athletes staging the civil rights protest from the medal podium at the 1968 Olympics, died Tuesday of a heart attack. He was 64.

Patrick McEnroe received a two-year contract extension Monday to stay on as captain of the U.S. Davis Cup team, charged with ending the country's longest title drought since the competition began in 1900.
